She will be dearly missed by her life-long friends, the many friends she made teaching at Sand-Hill Venable, her church and mostly by her family.

She fought a long, hard battle and is now free from this earth to watch over us all. Known for her beautiful voice and contagious laugh, she was the kindest, happiest, most courageous woman you could know. Most well known as 'Mom', 'Gigi', 'Aunt Deb' and to many, 'Best Friend', Debbie Ward went home to be with the Lord, while surrounded by her loved ones.Дebbie was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, but was raised and made her life in Asheville, NC. Watts, who has lived in Ward 5 all his life, said in the end the council and the mayor have to have better teamwork to save Selma. WeвЂ™re concerned about whatвЂ™s going to make Selma better. вЂњIвЂ™m for industry, but thatвЂ™s not the job of a councilman. That, he says, is not a councilmanвЂ™s job, One of the things Watts wonвЂ™t promise is to bring jobs to Selma. Somewhere we ought to be able to reach an agreement.вЂќДЄfter 34 years as a teacher, Watts holds some simple, but firm beliefs. Watts says he has the key to unlock city councilвЂ™s problem. вЂњPeople can forget, theyвЂ™re not there for their personal aggrandizement.Д®very town has its problems, we should be able to overcome this problem.вЂќ вЂњAll this haggling over money, thatвЂ™s not going to help the city,вЂќ he said. One of the ways Watts say the city can move forward is by putting some of the haggling in has held the city back. I see little cities like Prattville progressing, we need to progress.вЂќ вЂњWeвЂ™ve got to move to the future,вЂќ he said.

Watts stressed that it was time for the city council to help start moving Selma forward. He also added that we would begin working with the parents to educate them on their responsibilities. вЂњI donвЂ™t have an answer but weвЂ™ve got to start somewhere.вЂќ Watts added that he would support the curfew measure the council has been discussing since it was suggested by the crime task force.
